A Love for Patients and Their Smiles
Dr. Leonard “Len” Fiume is originally from Charlotte, NC. He attended college at UNC-Chapel Hill and earned both his D.M.D. degree and graduate certificate in orthodontics from the College of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC.

Personal Life
In his spare time, Dr. Fiume enjoys surfing, paddle boarding, running, playing guitar, and traveling. He and his wife, Kelly, got married in 2015 and have a beagle named Ben. They could not be more excited to now call New Bern their home.

Dr. Todd Rankin received his D.D.S. degree from the University of North Carolina School of Dental Medicine. He did his graduate work in orthodontics at the University of Connecticut Health Center, where he received a certificate in orthodontics.

He is a member of both the American Association of Orthodontists and North Carolina Association of Orthodontists (past president of NCAO). Finally he is a long time member of the Schulman Group of Orthodontists.

Personal Life
Dr. Rankin and his wife, Melissa, have been married since 2002. They have three children, Wyatt, Mia and Dahlia. When not straightening teeth, he enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, cycling and going to the beach.
Meet Our Staff
I have been an Orthodontic Assistant since 1995 and joined the practice in 2001. I am married and have two boys. I enjoy spending time with my family and in my free time I play roller derby for the Cape Fear Roller Girls in Wilmington. Although I live close to an hour from New Bern, I don’t mind making the drive to work each day because I enjoy working with such a great team in a really fun environment!

Kay has been a Treatment/New Patient Coordinator in our office since 2010. She began working in the orthodontic field after graduating from Penn State University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology. As one of our Treatment Coordinators, Kay enjoys welcoming new patients to our office and making them feel comfortable about their orthodontic treatment.
Kay & her husband Tom have been married since 1995 & have 4 boys: Jarrett, Brady, Nolan and Mitchell. If they aren't on an athletic field you can find the family running, cycling or maybe even relaxing on the beach!
Kim is our lead Dental Assistant Supervisor and has been with Dr. Rankin for over 10 years. She grew up in Greenville and ended up graduating from West Craven Highschool. Kim lives in New Bern with her husband Cory and two young boys. In her offtime she enjoys shopping, going to the beach, hanging by the pool and spending time with her family.
I have been in the orthodontic profession for over 20 years, as a chair side assistant and recently transitioned into the role of treatment coordinator. I enjoy spending time with my two children and family dogs, Phin and Odin. In my spare time I enjoy refinishing furniture and bonfires with friends!

I have been working with Rankin & Fiume Orthodontics since 2004 as a Dental Assistant & now serve as a Lab Technician overseeing our on-site Lab facility where the majority of our retainers and appliances are made. I live in New Bern with my husband Rickey & we together have 3 children (Kenly, Kameron & Chloe) & 2 fur babies that we rescued, Oaklee & Spike. I enjoy relaxing on the river on our boat or at the beach with family & friends or just listening to music by our bon-fire.

I joined our team in 2016 as one of our Sterilization Technicians and Orthodontic Assistants. You may see me either in Sterilization cleaning the instruments or around the office seeing patients. I love seeing all of the different faces around the office and enjoy getting to know each person that I meet! When I am not at the office I love being outside, especially on a nice day. I also love going out to get sushi!
